A publication built around artistic experience rather than celebrity profiles. Independent, curious and culturally alert, with a Persian sensibility that travels beyond borders.
Liberty of Art.
Art of Liberty.
1001 began with two people who love art, making, language and the things that survive in objects. Its ambition is simple and demanding: discover work worth knowing, and write about it well.
There is no requirement that every story be a long essay. Some works need reporting and context. Others need a close look and three sentences that remain in the mind.
The long-term printed edition is conceived as one hundred contributions split equally between its two founding editors. The online journal is an open, developing editorial space—not a claim that every one of those pieces has already been commissioned or finished.
